Pink Floyd zapowiedzieli wyjątkową reedycję swojego kultowego albumu „Wish You Were Here”, który w tym roku obchodzi 50-lecie.
Nowe wydanie „Wish You Were Here”, pełne rzadkich nagrań i niepublikowanych wcześniej wersji utworów, ukaże się 12 grudnia na kilku formatach.
Wśród dodatków znalazło się sześć nieznanych dotąd alternatywnych wersji i demo, w tym wczesne nagranie „Welcome to the Machine”, wówczas zatytułowane „The Machine Song”, czy instrumentalna wersja „Wish You Were Here” z wyeksponowaną gitarą Davida Gilmoura.
Po raz pierwszy usłyszymy też kompletne „Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1-9)”, zmontowane w całość i na nowo zmiksowane przez Jamesa Guthrie.
Reedycja zostanie wydana m.in. jako zestaw 3LP, 2CD, Blu-ray, wersja cyfrowa oraz ekskluzywne Deluxe Box Set. Najbogatsza edycja zaoferuje m.in. dodatkowy winyl „Live at Wembley 1974”, replikę japońskiego singla, książkę z niepublikowanymi zdjęciami oraz materiały z trasy z 1975 roku. Koncertowe nagrania z tamtego okresu, uwiecznione przez legendarnego bootleggera Mike’a Millarda, zostały odrestaurowane i zremasterowane przez Stevena Wilsona.
W latach 70. okładki płyt były równie ważne jak sama muzyka, bo to one przyciągały wzrok w sklepach. Nie mieliśmy cyfrowych sztuczek, więc gdy Storm powiedział, że musimy naprawdę podpalić człowieka na sesji zdjęciowej, po prostu to zrobiliśmy. Pink Floyd byli tak samo odważni w muzyce, jak my w sztuce wizualnej.
